At the end of some tricks, there is something called a “Kicker” ended. Essentially what that means is that the trick has a basic ending (magician finds the card in some amazing way), but then the “kicker” is that the car has a different color back than the rest of the deck. The problem is that sometimes, either the kicker completely overshadows the basic ending (which is great in its own right), or the kicker is timed poorly and doesn’t get noticed after doing the basic ending, when some people think the trick is done.

As another thing I do when choosing tricks I like and want to perform, I tend to stay away from “kicker” endings, unless it actually makes sense in the trick, and even then, it’s not necessarily an extra part of the trick, but is integrated as part of the trick and so flows much better. Maybe I just like tricks that have a decent flow to them. As of this writing, I don’t have any specific examples, but check out some of the videos I’ve posted to see how well the flow works for me.

I find fascination in what people say, and phrases people use.  One of the sets of phrases I find interesting are as follows:

  • “The truth is”
  • “To tell you the truth”
  • “To be honest”
  • etc

The thing about these statements is that they seem to imply that the person speaking might usually lie when they speak, but in this one instance, they’re ready to be honest in what they say.  It’s a useless addition to any conversation, but I guess people use it to attempt to make a point.  Usually, people use this as part of a response to a question – but if I asked you a question, I expect to get the truth.

Anyway, I just hate the use of it.  People, please stop.  I mean, honestly…

Technically, this is a re-launch, as I’ve made a couple of previous attempts to launch this blog/site. But this is it, “the one”, the actual launch that will take.

So welcome to those that have joined in. If I’ve left up the previous posts, feel free to view the videos contained in them. As I go through the process of re-creating the videos to make them more consistent, add titles and such, I’ll be re-posting with an actual description, etc. Additionally, I’ll also be posting explanations for download in the store part of the site.

For now, bookmark the site, link me to all your favorite bookmarking sites, check out the links, and enjoy. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll get updates whenever I post.
